One of the strange things that have happened to me in terms of movie tastes is that suddenly I like westerns. Must be a sign of age or something. But now I'm trying to catch every John Wayne-Randolph Scott movie I can find. I love the damn movies, the heroism they project, the beauty of the landscape. They are tales of honor, courage. They probably have no basis on history, but the mythology of it is very powerful. Those who think that things like "Lord of the Rings" or "Star Wars" are rich in mythology..well...sorry but any John Ford or Howard Hawks western is richer. Anyway..must go ...there could be a good western on TCM or Encore.
